Discombobulated marches and weird harmoniesMusic writers at The New York Times recommends a number of Charles Ives recordings. Missing from the lists is my favorite, An Old Song Deranged, a collection of Ives' more obscure music which makes clear that he was not only a great experimental visionary pioneer and all that, but also part of the tradition that more recently produced Spike Jones and P.D.Q.
