Reviews

There are a vast number of sites devoted to reviewing anime. Most are wastes of server space. Here are a few that I have found useful.

Chizumatic. The most reliable critic I know of. If Den Beste says it's good, it probably is.

T.H.E.M. Anime Reviews

The Anime Review

Anime on DVD. If it's not reviewed here, it's not reviewed anywhere.

Music

The Yoko Kanno Database.

topazstorm. Includes sheet music for several of the tunes from Haibane Renmei.

Anime Scores. Sheet music from a variety of animes.

Anime Lyrics. Some of Yoko Kanno's songs really are nonsense.

Josh's anime sheet music collection A wretchedly unreadable page that features a vast collection of downloadable sheet music and MIDIs. (Caution: There are problems with some of the MIDI files. They may crash your MIDI player or browser, or computer.)

Et cetera

Anime News Network. Features many reviews and a useful encyclopedia.

Anime Music Videos.org. The quality varies wildly, but occasionally there's an inspired combination of image and music.

Cartoon Brew. A weblog devoted mainly to occidental animation, but the writers have a healthy respect for Miyazaki.

fps: The Magazine of Animation

Rob Kelk's Anime Website, featuring the meganekko gallery and an anime primer

Megumi-Toons. Autobiographical cartoons by voice actress Megumi Hayashibara

Flyin' Eyeball Animation

Synonyms and Sugar. The weblog of an artist and animator (and a graduate of the University of Dallas, my first college).

Kinesca. The weblog of a critical anime enthusiast.

Bee Train Fan. Devoted to the studio responsible for Noir.

Cosplay.com, where you can find people even crazier than I am.

Anime Festival Wichita. The local anime convention.
